Continuing Education
For the first time, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality and the American Public Health Association present continuing education credits for several sessions that are designed to encourage audience participation including using trigger tools to identify potential risks and hazards, future directions for expanding patient-centered care, and comparative effectiveness research.
Accreditation Statements
Health Education
“The American Public Health Association is accredited by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. to sponsor continuing education for Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES). This program is a designated event for the CHES to receive up to (12) Category I CE contact hours (CHEC).”
Medicine
“This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of the American Public Health Association (APHA) and (the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality). The APHA is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
Designation statement: The APHA designates this educational activity for a maximum of (12) AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.”

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Qualitystrives to ensure balance, independence, objectivity, and scientific rigor in all of its educational programs. All planners, faculty members, moderators, discussants, panelists, and presenters participating in this program have been required to disclose any real or apparent conflict(s) of interest that may have a direct bearing on the subject matter of this program. This includes relationships with pharmaceutical companies, biomedical device manufacturers or other corporations whose products or services are related to the subject matter of the presentation topic. The intent of this policy is to identify openly any conflict of interest so that attendees may form their own judgments about the presentation with full disclosure of the facts. In addition, faculty is expected to openly disclose any off-label, experimental, and/or investigational uses of drugs or devices in their presentations. Written disclosures are available upon request at the CE Information Desk.
Instructions to Obtain a Certificate
To earn continuing education credit, participants must attend the entire session and complete an online evaluation. The deadline to complete the online evaluation is Monday, November 29, 2010.
- Identify sessions attended.
- Log onto www.dspesg.com/aphaRegional.
- Enter your email address and last name.
- Follow screen prompts to evaluate each session attended; HIT SAVE after each submission.
- Continue to enter evaluations until you have completed ALL evaluations for sessions attended, HIT FINISH.
- Once you hit FINISH, your records will be locked and you will not be able to enter any additional evaluations.
- Once FINISHED, the screen will ask you which certificate you want, you must CHECK the box to receive the certificate.
- The screen will ask you if you want to PRINT your certificate or have a PDF sent to your email; ENTER YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS AND CLICK ENTER.
- You’ll know you’ve completed your evaluations and a certificate has been emailed when the screen says that a certificate has been sent to your email.
- The online evaluation system will be open to submit evaluations until November 30, 2010.
- For assistance, click on the Contact Us navigation button; input your information and click enter. An online support person will respond.
